Midwest Tour Highlights:

I could see him out of the corner of my eye. You don't realize how big they really are until you start to close in on one. Then suddenly - his whole body expanded, his neck arched and he spread his giant wings...

OH NO!!! Not THAT!! - HE'S GONNA TAKE OFF!!!

But there was nothing I could do in that split second when my brain registered the distance between us and the collision about to happen. Not at 70 miles and hour with cars in the next lane. So I braced myself behind the wheel for impact and...

SBLAM!! - (Somewhere between a "Bam" and a "Splat.)

The full grown wild turkey slammed into the passenger's side front window! It sounded as if he smashed right through the glass, but thank God, he did not.

With our combined velocities, he did sheer off our right-side rear-view mirror, causing his guts to spew all along the right side of the vehicle... gross!

Im glad I was driving, and not sitting in the passenger's seat. Don was the lucky one in that spot, and in fact noted that it was the first time "Wild Turkey" ever had a sobering effect on him!

All you fellow van owners out there are hip to the fact that its impossible to drive a fully loaded van even around the block without both mirrors operating so we needed a replacement right away. (Not to mention a car wash!)

En route to our show in Rochester, PA, we got lucky in Beaver Falls where the good folks at Morrow Motors Ford gave us a great deal! I think they enjoyed the turkey tale, or at least what was left of him in the window jam! - Click on "PIX" to the left of your computer screen to see the Turkey Photos!
